Spine shedding problem

My panther shed in sections, but the shed seemed to stop up around the spine, mid section of the spine, leaving what appeared to be a section of spine that needed to finish but it didnt. I changed his light and gave him sunlight and he went into a full body shed. It was fairly quick but that section of spine still looked like an incomplete shed. Now it looks like it may have gotten a little infection along that section of the spine. I applied neosporin to the area it looks better. My basking temp is 90 at the spot where he sits, if you add his body hight it prob goes up a few degrees, so I dont think its a burn. Has anyone ever had that problem. How often can I apply the neosporin?

A picture might help. It's not unusual for them to shed in sections and, in my experience, the spine is often the last place to give it up. I don't know what is making you think infection, so a picture would hopefully clear that up. Just a note: they are exothermic animals so they don't contribute to the heat at all.
