Spikes separating from body

Hi there, my veiled chameleon is about a year old, i just noticed that his spikes closest to his head are separating from his body. Anyone know what could be causing this?

When you say the are separating from his body, could it be just him shedding? If you could post a couple pictures it would help. One close up of the problem and a second one of his whole body.

Yes pictures help alot. Sometimes with a real rough shed I have seen chams looses spikes. If that is the case I would up mistings and maybe apply a bit of polysporin to the area.
Also I see you are new to the forum so WELCOME!! Cool you are only just over an hour away from me :)

Welcome to the forums!! Like Hoj said if he is shedding keep him a little more moist to help him out.. Kind of unclear about the "separating" from the body.. are they falling off?...or... kind of like..shifting up or down his body?

Another possibility is a thermal burn. The spikes and usually the skin at their base will be discolored. A shed is usually white.
