Species Advice

I may officially be a chameleon evangelist!

My mother-in-law (we get along really well. I use the old term mother-in-love) has never had a lizard or anything, but my wife's family has had some openness about types of pets. She has a bird who is about to die, and that is the last indoor pet. She is thinking about a lizard, but she doesn't know what she wants. She has taken care of ours every time we've gone on vacation and she loves them.

She loves my veiled, Gary, and the feeling is mutual. She is also fond of my panther, Solomon's cuteness. He's only about 4-5 months old. My wife is a gecko person, and she loves the idea of her crested, Stanley, because of his ease, but he's in that biting stage and now my wife's whole family, mother-in-love included, is afraid of the little guy (he's sweet, just going through that stage).

I don't know anything about different species. She likes the size of Solomon (5 month panther), but the attitude of Gary (almost a year old veiled). Carpets don't live long enough (or so I've read), and pygmies would be too much work for her (or so I've read)

Any recommendations? Even if it's "no" it'll be appreciated.

Thanks!

Also: I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, Breeding seemed too egg-laying and mating for species stuff. If I'm in the wrong place, let me know.

What about a Jackson's? Not too large, live quite a while in captivity and are super cute. Care is not as finicky as some other species but not basic either. With your experience and some research, I'm sure you could help her figure it out. :) I would get a captive bred, if you can.
