I thought I would make a journal of my male Nosey Be Panther Spartan. I thought this way would be better instead of making new threads every 5 minutes when I had a question, oh and BTW this is by far this is the best forum I have been a part of, and I have many hobbies. Questions are always replied to very quickly. You guys are a great bunch of people:D

With that said Let me start off with the vitals;

Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - Spartan is a year old male Nosey Be Panther that has been with me 2.5 days

* Handling - I've only held him twice for about 5 - 15 minutes

* Feeding - I put in 10 dusted crickets, dusted with Repti-Cal w/out D3, I also bought w/o D3 and Herptivite powder. I plan to feed 10 - 12 crickets every other day dusted with calc w/o D3 and use herpivite once a week, and calc w/ D3 2x a month. Crickets with Flukers High Calcium cricket diet and orange slices for hydration to get him Vit C. I will also shop this weekend for veggies and fruits for the crickets.

* Supplements - Stated above.

* Watering - I will be manually misting with a mist bottle made by Exo Tarrium 2 -3 times a day for 1 - 2 minutes, and dripping 3 times a day via a "Little Dipper", He drank for 30 minutes straight the first night I got him BTW
**Update** Just bit the bullet on a mistking woooooooooot!!!!!!

* Fecal Description - He has pooped twice since he has been in my care and the first poop was dark color and smelled bad it end with a white substance, there were several bits of undigested crickets also. The second poop was less poop and was followed by a really light orange substance. As far as I know he has not been tested for parasites

* History - Nothing remarkable by the previous owner

Cage Info:

* Cage Type - Aluminum screen cage 24x24x48

* Lighting - 24" fixture with a 20" Repti-sun 5.0 UVB tube bulb, for basking I have a dome fixture with a 60w ZooMed Daylight Blue Reptile bulb which are on a timer set to 9am to 9pm.

* Temperature - Basking area is a steady 82 - 83 the rest of the cage ranges from 65 to 70, Night temps range from 62 to 70, I measure all this with 3 digital thermometers, one place at basking area and the other 2 at mid range.

* Humidity - Dont have anything to measure this at the moment

* Plants - I have a Ficus tree and to pothos plants.

* Placement - Enclosure is in my kids room close to a large window and is in a moderately trafficked area, unfortunately I have nowhere else to put him. Basking area is at eye level.

* Location - I am in Hawthorne Ca.

Pretty sure you should use cal without d3 2 a week and with d3 twice a week. multi should be also twice a week at his age.

Repcal is too easy to over do it with. Calcium with d3 twice a month is plenty. Calcium without d3 every feeding is good, and a multivitamin once or twice a month is fine.

A year old panther doesn't need a multivitamin twice a week. I dont even give babies a multivitamin that often! I rely more on my gutloading, as should everyone else.

Yes I have changed feeding schedule, sorry forgot to change it in the stat info above.

sweet looking cham! and congrats. You might want to raise the cage up a bit higher to make him feel a bit safer, just a suggestion but its not needed i dont think. Congrats on the mist king purchase! i wanna get me one of those too!

Thanks man, and yeah I am so psyched about the mist king, I cant wait to set that sucker up when it gets here. Also I will see if I can get a higher table to sit the cage on.

So your saying my care sheet from screameleons is wrong?

Hey Mike, is this you buddy. Thanks again for Spartan he is now a part of the family, Thanks for the hook up.

I was following your care sheet and you told me to feed crickets every other day dusted w/ Calcium with D3 at every feeding.

I have been doing a lot of research and also 95% of the senior members here have strongly opposed using D3 at every feeding. I have been told only 2x a month. But if you raised Spartan for a year like this and he is this beautiful I will follow your recommendation. So should I feed D3 at every feeding? He wont OD on so much D3?

I just want what is best for him:)

Repcal has too much d3 in it to use that often. You can use sticky tongue farms indoor formula almost every feeding if you want, but I highly suggest against using so much repcal. Repcal has about 100x more d3 than sticky tongue farms. See what I'm getting at? It's not about a specific schedule for all brands. Each brand is different and those differences have to be accounted for when supplementing.

Got it:eek:.....

I think you have me confused for the guy mike your talking about.. I'm just going off the paper from screameleons care sheet

Lol..:eek:.. Sorry buddy, I thought you were the previous owner cause he gave me a care sheet to follow, and when you asked me about a care sheet I assumed it was you. Again sorry.

Wow. That is a beautiful cham, especially the color variation near the face. I am glad you have the opportunity to offer some free range space! Keep us updated.

are you sure you have them cage dimensions right? it looks rather small and your 24" light fixture is wider than your 24" cage?

Nah its cool. Nice looking guy you got there tho

Thanks:D

Thank you sir! Yeah he liked the free range plant and I decided to put another heat lamp up there too, is this okay? Also I brought him off the free range to put him back in the cage and this really irratated him, his face got real white with red dots and his eyes were super red. I should have took a pic, insane colors! He also started to walk in pauses, he would go then, pause, go then, pause, etc. in like 2 -3 second intervals. Anyone know what this means?

No I am sure of the size, I even went to home depot and got a 24x24 piece of plywood to as added support for the cage since its on a round table, and it fits perfectly, so definately 24x24. Not sure as to why the fixture is bigger.

I was more concerned with the 48 measurement because it looks a lot smaller than 4 foot but if your sure then cool.
