My ambilobe I just received from a friend has been lithargic today only hanging out on his basking spot not really moving or going after food like he usually does I am wondering if it could be just his acclimation period or could he have got sick off of one of my feeders which I don't think could happen but possibly. I know u want a Cham help sheet but I don't have enough time to do it right now because I'm at work now ... I will post later any suggestions are welcome I just need some help. As I'm not sure if he is exhibiting signs of sickness or not.?

Thank you,
Sterling

Are his eyes open? Sleeping during the day is a big sign that things aren't well. Otherwise, unless there is any other behaviour that is worrying you, just chilling out for a day isn't too worrying in and of itself. However the help request sheet will probably give you a lot more useful ideas if you can fill it out after work.

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about. He has been lithargic today just sitting under his basking spot not really cage cruising like usuall and not hunting like usuall today.

everything seems fine.

How old is your uvb?

are his eyes closed? any weird breahting noises?

if no to those questions, hes fine.

he just wants to chill.

my guys do the same thing. some days they just want to chill.

I say relax, keep an eye on him, and if nothign changes.. hes fine.

My UVB is currently 5 months old and will be replaced soon most likely Friday when I get my paycheck.

No he hasnt been breathing weirdly or anything just been chillen basking out hahah maybe I'm just trippin I just wanted to make sure because my other Cham never really relax he just goes goes goes super active but he is a bit younger.

And yes his eyes are open darting around and looking how they normally look bulgy and pivoty :)

And thank you for the advice keep it coming

Ye alike i said, im sure hes fine.

some are active, some arent.

my hoe cruises everywhere in her cage. so does my female veiled, but not my male veiled or my male panther.

For an adult panther I would up the basking to about 90-95. He might keep basking cause he is not getting warm enough.

I just upped his 60w to a 75w to get his basking spot temp up a lil bit so now I'm just monitoring him now to see if he moves or gets more active and Friday he will be getting a new UVB bulb :)

ok good. I bask my one with a 75 watt and the has 100watt and he likes it under there. He does not gape or anything so it is not too hot. If you see your chameleon sitting under the light with his mouth open too much then you need to raise the light a little or lower the wattage. Although I know it goes from 60-75 and there is really nothing in between. So raising the light or lowering the basking branch or vine may help. Not saying it is gonna work but it worth a try right?!

yes, my one guy loves the 100 watt. I thought it was going to be too hot but it was all I had at the moment besides 60's. So I put it in there and he bask comfortably under it all the time. My basking spot is about 96 under there. It depends on the temp of your house too. My house is like 73 degrees with ac. If your house is hotter than your cage will be hotter to begin with and so the 100 might end up being too much.

How far away is your basking branch from the light ?? Just wondering to see if mine is at good height approx 8" away from my 75w now

I don't see him gapping or anything as of yet his basking temp is at 91 now so we will see what's happening with him. He might need a shower and just some relaxation and I think he will be a little bit better off and happier :)

my basking branch is about the same distance maybe a little closer. I hope he is not ill and you are worrying for nothing, which is probably the case! Man you keep your house cool! 67degrees!?

My house stays cool yes because I live in a pretty cool climate and my house is pretty well vented so it stays pretty cool. Okay well I think the 75 is doing fine I'll see maybe next month if he like the 100 watt more he probably will
