is it? It's scarier is you catch them trying to inseminate something and they miss.... that is a terrifying sight. As far as a health concern, only be worried if it stays out longer than a few seconds. If it doesn't go in, it's considered a medical emergency.

If it stays out it's a prolapse and you need to keep it moist and see a vet immediately to get it back it. If you let it dry out they have amputate it. With Tortoises we tell people with a prolapse to make a sugar paste. Add just enough water to white sugar to make a paste and put it on there so you can make it to the vet without it drying out. I'm assuming since that works for a tort that it would work on a cham.

Hi, I had the same thing. Not to worry he's just showing his manhood. I was told to spray a little water and it will retrack.

Sometimes with sugar pastes etc, you can get a chameleon to retract without a bet visit. But often it will continue to happen once it already has.

Correct. With prolapse it's simply not enough to fix the prolapse. Prolapse must be fixed as an emergency but they don't just happen. Common reasons are kidney stones from chronic dehydrated, being egg bound.... you have to fix the underlying cause of the prolapse or it will just prolapse again.
