I just recieved my solar meter 6.2 and I have some questions I hope someone can answer. I have a veiled cham and a flouresent linear 5.0 uvb bulb. What are good numbers for the basking spot which is 6 inches down from the top. what reading indicates the bulb is too low. At the standard distance of recording which is 12 inches from the bulb, what are good readings suppose to be? What reading indicates that the bulb should be replaced?

What are your readings that good help people answer your questions of wether or not it's in a good range

You want your numbers as high as you can get them.. If you can get 30's and 40's thru the screen you are doing good. You want to replace the bulb if it gets under 18. You may have to raise his basking branch to get those readings. Iread an article a while back recommending 40's but that was an old article, and the bulbs are better today and alot of people go much higher. Sunshine in the shade can reach in the 200's

The 5.0 bulb I have is aboout a month old. the readings at his basking spot are around 25. 12 inches down the reading are around 12?
