So I got a reptisun 5.0...i got a question

Ok, so my father found a reptisun 5.0 at a pet store and got it. I had a zoomed repti glo 10.0. And with the 10.0 I had 2 4x4s between the cage and the bulb to rise it up a couple inches because it was too close to his closest perch. Should I remove the 4x4s now that i got something a little less powerful?

I wouldn't use any 2x4's at all with the UV lighting only to maybe raise the heating lamp off the top of the cage.

Is it a fluorescent bulb? The UV barely penetrates more than a few effective inches. So raising it up would essentially lessen its range inside the cage.

Howdy,
Position the Reptisun 5.0 on or above the top of your screen enclosure so that your chameleon can get within 6"-12" of the tube's bare surface. This is often accomplished by just laying the tube/fixture directly on top of the screen.

Ditto on removing the 2 x 4 stuff.....The 5.0 tubes are quite safe right on top of the cage...

I use boards for the heat lamp to get a good temp, but ya the UVB shouldn't need them
