Snow in Vegas!

We got hit pretty hard with snow today in the edges (higher elevations) of Las Vegas. Last time I remember snow here was probably 5-6 years ago, but we had about 2-3" at my house during the day today. My wife took pictures of the yard and e-mailed them to me at work, it was pretty cool to see (first time it's snowed in our new house). By the time I got home, the snow had stopped falling and was mostly melted, but I did happen to see one of my male sulcatas strolling around the yard, wondering what the hell just happened LOL.... This is an 80 pound male. The heat box (oversized doghouse) they live in maintains temperatures in the mid to high 80's during the day during the winter, so he was able to raise his body temperature enough that he could do a 30 minute patrol of the premises before he needed to retreat for shelter. I have another big male (also 80 pounds) and some other tortoises at my parent's house, and they said their male was also running around wondering what was going on. It was pretty cool to see a tortoise walking around in the snow. All my others stayed inside their shelters, I think with the smaller sizes of them, they knew they wouldn't be able to stay warm for more than a few minutes.

I agree with Joe, that is an eerie image.....the snow on the strip...

Glad the tortoises enjoyed it though!
