It snowed in New Orleans today! It was so cool! it has only happened a few times before and my high school would not give us off  so while half the city played in the snow i was in class.:(

wow too bad 4 u. i played in city park all day in the snow. you really missed out. in kenner, you probably got more snow there. there's still some on my balcony.

Yep I got 20 min. in the snow. It came down pretty hard in Kenner my mom and sister stayed home and took pictures. i bet u had a lot of fun.

eventually it got to 29F at my school. there was some Hoar frost on the trees. it was crazy. i have some pics on my phone.

Now we have to hope that the trend of snow then major hurricane that wipes out half the city doesn't hold true.

Is hoar frost the same as pogonip? We got that all over everything in Nevada. It was so neat to see!

I remember a few instances when I loved out in Moreno Valley Ca, (Spanish for "Brown Valley"...Wonderful place...) where it started snowing in the middle of the southern california desert. It is pretty cool.

You know Global warming is really cranking when it snows in the South......

Actually, it IS a result of global warming. The globe heats and the ice caps are melting...the cold water that they make spreads out and comes down, causing storms and making winters a bit colder.

Also, snow in the desert is really fun to see.

Yes...the globe is getting warmer... and while I have always been called the "tree hugger environmentalist" type, I also like to research into these topics... and learn as much as I can to gain a fact based opinion on the subject. I do consider myself an advocate for our environment... But as far as a "Human Caused Warming Trend"... The conclusion I have come to in my own research is that I dont buy it in the least. I love the environment and know that we must keep our footprint as small as possible, but the warming trend on our planet is just the natural process of our planet. You talk to scientists... and they will tell you to look at the historical timeline of our planet... and it is just doing what it has done several times in it's history... It Freezes over in an Ice Age, Then thaws out... Then freezes over again. If I remember correctly our planet has been through something like 2 or 3 Ice Ages, and right now we are just on the warming end of the last ice age... and in due time the planet will be completely frozen over again. This is a planet forever in a state of Chaos, with or without humans... and we are just along for the ride. When I hear people saying it is us that is causing our planet to get warmer... I can't help but think of Al Gore dressed in a "Man Bear Pig" costume, warning everyone of a danger that he cooked up in his imagination.

Don't get me wrong... I am VERY passionate about our environment and conservation... but what we need to be worrying about is stuff like deforestation and protecting our oceans. We need to keep our footprint small... But our current footprint is not cooking our planet, this is just our planet doing what it does. More often than not it seems that the idea of global warming is just used as a scare tactic for leftist politics.

Just my take on it... Thought I would share...

Edit: Sorry Guys... Didn't mean to hop on a soap box and Jack the thread. How many inches of snow did you guys get?

it doesnt bother me. i also am pretty green in my activities, but i dont buy into global warming. a couple of my relatives are geologist and biologists, and they say its just the natural course of the environment.

It is both ways, guys. Though it IS the natural course of the earth and time, people are speeding it up considerably through deforestation and how much carbon we produce.

I will not argue about this.

i dont want to argue over an unproved THEORY. plus i like the people here, so why argue unless they are totally wrong.
