Smell

So I have been reading around and smelly poop probably means parasites so I have a 3.5 month old Veiled Chameleon and he seems really healthy always active eats like crazy 15 to 20 feeders a day and his poop and pee look healthy but I am kinda nervous about the smell it's not that strong or anything but I can smell it when I clean it up is this normal or could there be something wrong with him? Is there more symptoms to him have parasites or no?

Hi! Other symptoms of parasites could be weight loss, sleeping through the day and also some parasites are visible in the poop.

If you are worried, take a fresh sample to you r vet for a fecal exam and have it tested for parasites. If there is some you can treat it straight away, if not you'll have peace of mind :)

Oh thank you so much so smelly poop doesn't always mean parasites? And he is healthy he doesn't sleep during the day and he is a happy fat little chameleon lol :D

Yes smelly poop does usually mean parasites however, we all have a different idea of what 'smelly' is :) I'm sure cham poop isn't meant to smell that great given that they eat stinky bugs like crickets!

Hahahahaha that is true I just want my little guy to be healthy :) but I will keep an eye on him and if he seems to get worse then I will have him checked out but again the smell it's overpowering or anything so that's good but as long as he is still active and eating he should be fine? :)

I think every so often it just can have a little bit of a smell to it. I had some poop once that I was concerned about cause it did kinda smell but I had a fecal float done on it and there were no parasites.
