Smaller cage for young panther?

Okay so i have my large dragonstrand atrium(44"wide 45"height 22"deep) just about ready, but i've been tweaking it and taking my time landscaping it and all. I've read young chameleons <1 year old should start in smaller cages and all of the chams i see available online seem to be around the 4 month mark.

So while I am finishing my main cage just how I want it, I was thinking it'd be a good idea to pick up a cheaper, smaller cage in the mean time. I don't mind spending the extra $ and it'd seem like a good idea for my cham when he's younger, for transportation, and just to have in case i'd need it for whatever.

I'd want it to be as simplistic as possible since it's only temporary, but obviously with all of the necessary requirements. By simplistic i don't mean i want to cut corners. I was looking at different 'all-in-one' cages online that seemed decently priced, is there one package deal you guys would recommend? Also will i be able to get away with hand misting for now? I have my mistking that I'm going to use with my dragon strand, but i figured it wouldn't be a problem just doing it manual for a few months. This will give me time to monitor my cham closely and get Used to him while perfecting my long term living room display.

Let me know what you guys think about this and if you have any suggestions.

I got my cham the kit from petsmart for his baby home. It was the 18X18X36 and I hand sprayed him until he moved to his big cage at 6 months old. I have the 24X24X48 dragon set up... I wish that huge atrium was out when I got Peter.

Pics of your set up when you're done?

Yessir, will be posting pics once it's all planted. Love the idea of a natural look, got all sorts of ideas for it lol can't wait to see how it turns out.

Thanks though i've been looking at different kits online. Might order one today.

The cage need to be small enough that they can find the food and water, that is the only requirement. If they are cup trained, or have a small feeding tray, you can put them in a 8 foot cage no problem.
a 4 month old is going to have a problem hunting in the normal 2x2x4 cage that is well leafed. All i did for mine was cut a 2x2 bottom and made the cage only 18" tall, and had a huge tray with sticks over it for the cricket to wander till he was cup (bottle cut in half with screen on on side style) trained. Then he had free reign (and then i doubled it up by putting 2 together size i had an unused one).

Good idea i might do that. I was just thinking it'd be nice to have an extra cage for him if i'm working in the main enclosure for whatever reason. Now that i think of it, i could probably make him a simple free range 'forest' for those times.
