Silkworm Storage

Anyone know the best way to keep silkworms for a while (or even how long they'll last)? I have two almost full pods from Mulberry farms that my cham didn't go through before he passed away this weekend and it's going to be at least a few weeks before I seriously consider getting another.

I have a post up in the classifieds offering them up for anyone around where I live or work, but no takers so far, so I'm trying to figure out what to do with them so they don't go to waste...

So sorry to hear that you lost you cham. :( I keep my silkworms in a shallow plastic Tupperware. They don't crawl out, at least for me, until they want to make a cocoon, as long as you keep them with a steady supply of chow. I clean out the webbing and poo daily. Mine have lasted quite a while this way, with only one death. The thing is, silkworms' lifespans are generally quite short, so even if you kept them healthy and alive for a while, they would most likely already be cocoons or moths by the time you got a chance you feed them off. You could decrease their heat and not feed them quite as much, but this would only slightly delay the process. They're only larvae for a month tops.
