Silk Worms...?

Hi! Does anyone else feed silk worms to their chams? mine seems to not like them. I just received my silk worm order yesterday (very first time ordering them) and she ate 2 yesterday, but is so NOT interested in them anymore. I'm thinking it's maybe becuase they're not very active...? or she may not just like them. Anyhow, does anyone else have any ideas on how to "make" her eat them? I don't want them to die and go to waste!

thx!
Lisa

Silkworms are very popular feeders for chameleons. ANother option is to keep trying her with them, if she ends up not being bothered, keep looking after them (did you get enough mulberry leaves or silkworm chow with your order?) and let them pupate, and you can feed her the moths. Lots of chameleons respond better to fluttery things anyway!

some like them and some don't. Just keep trying. Let them roam in the cage on the branches. Both of mine love them. If you want to let them pupate it is going to take quite awhile. You are going to have to keep feeding them until they get huge and then they will start cocooning. It takes about 3 weeks or so for them to hatch out after that.

Thanks for the responses! I put two of them in there yesterday to roam the branches, and she just stared at them for hours! lol. they really don't move very well. i'll have to do alot more research on them, because i really don't know that much. I just read that they were one of the best worms, nutritionally, for my charm girl ) They have the food they were packed in (which they said would last up to 2 weeks) but if she's not going to eat them, i would much rather have them pupate than die!

I'll keep putting some in her cage, but she would MUCH rather prefer the crickets, i guess. I usually give her a variety: superworms, wax worms, crickets... so i decided on silk worms. She seems to like the variety, except of course the newbies of silks. ha ha.

Any other info, i'd be happy to hear!)

Thnx!

I wish mine loved crickets more than the worms, but mine will litterally eat ANYTHING else but crickets lol Mine loved the silk worms..did you try hand feeding and maybe moving your fingers underneath the worm to make it move more? I do that with my wax worms and pheonix worms when they just come out of the fridge and it attracts Loki's attention lol hope this helps!:p

ha ha ha... i am so NOT touching ANY bugs!!! ha ha ha! it's weird tho, cuz she snaps up the wax worms like no man's business, but is totally dis-interested in those silks! i'm going to keep trying, but probably won't purchase them anymore. she also won't eat ANYTHING else! I've heard of chams eating plants, and veggies and fruits, sometimes, but my charm girl won't eat ANYTHING except her bugs! I've loaded her enclosure with all sorts of yummy (safe) live plants, and nothing. She barely even drinks, and i NEVER see her do that either! She's so finicky! Typical woman! ha ha. (don't get offended, I'M a woman!) Lol!
