sick veiled

pencil mcgeek

New Member
My boyfriend recently brought home a veiled chameleon and I'm afraid he (and I suppose I, as I do live with him) didn't know enough about them first. The chameleon was bought from someone else, with an enclosure and everything (heat lamps and lights). We now realise we need a new enclosure as he came in a glass terranium. The previous owner said he could handle the chameleon without stressing him, but pencil mcgeek (the name we gave him) seems very stressed every time we open the enclosure. He went through a spell were he wouldn't eat and seemed very dehydrated, but we past that, but today I noticed he had a VERY solid poop, so solid it made his bum bleed. I don't know what to do. He's my boyfriends in words, but I know a pet is a family responsibility and I'm going to make sure he's taken care of. I just need a little advice and some direction.
I'm not sure he was healthy when he came to us, he didn't come with any food at all and he seems quite slim.
I would have to drive close to two hours (each way), to bring him to a vet taht deals with lizards.. would this stress be too much for him?
Please help, I really want this guy to be healthy and happy.
My boyfriend loves this guy a lot and is completely dedicated to him, but it seems all the research we've done isn't helping him. Now I have a sad boyfriend and a sad cham :(

I did'nt hear any mention of water: via dripper, hand misting

better

So I think it was an undigested super worm. He seems a hundred times better now that he had a big poop. I went from worrying he wouldn't make it to him looking super healthy and eating and drinking on his own :)

Please fill out that form so we can make sure your husbandry is top notch for you little guy. Pictures are also good.
