Shy Cham

My cham is very shy. Once something new enters his eyesight (my hand, me approching the cage, giving him crickets, etc...) he hides behind whatever is closest and becomes noticaby stressed. When I do handle him (rarely), He is fine once he is on my hand, but getting him to step onto me is a hassle. What can I do to get him more comfortable with me?!

Will it just take time?

It takes time, I would minimize handling, but when you feed him let him see you hand. After a while he will associate the hand with food and be less nervous:)

Your other thread states you got your new baby two days ago, so I'd definitely give him time to get settled in and adjust, and yes, it'll just take time. Some chams are always very shy and don't like to be handled/bothered (my female veiled is like this), but I would continue to be patient and consistent and just allow time. :)

I've been there :) Heck, I'm still there lol. Worry worry worry. That's basically gonna be your chammommy life now :) lol

If your cham is new to you and young then it needs at least a week - two weeks of privacy to feel comfortable with its new home AND you. The best thing you can do is feed, water and love from afar and in about 10 days you should be good to go!! ;)

ps: She is very cute!
