Sexing baby veileds...

21 of 40 eggs have hatched so far and we've been sexing as we go (little bump on hind feet or not) but I've noticed the females also normally appear more of a dull green compared to the males.

So I was wondering, is it possible to sex via colour as well?

I would strictly go by the bump on their heels. When I has baby veileds they were all bright green. ;)

i would have to aggree with Jann on this one :) Vieled chameleons can be an orray of different greens boy or girl! And you will even get one or two that are totally different colours from the rest. Adult veileds can be very different according to colours and patterns so I don't thibnk it's a good way to judge sex.

Yea most are bright green. The eldest females are a mellow green and #21 was completely brown lol. Such a variety even from hatching. It truly is amazing to see.

Thanks for the input :)

Ughh... we'd love to... MORE PICS!!! :D;)

There will be a steady stream of pics from me. We are keeping a few females back from this clutch. And the second clutch of eggs is coming up to 7 months this month lol.

Sexing them by the nub on the heel isn't always easy I find. Though it could just mean I need new glasses.
