I had a female senegal chameleon. She was always a nice green color and rarely stressed out. I wasn'y aware that they will lay infertile eggs once in a while. I noticed that she wasn't eating her crickets and yesterday I did some research and figured out about the eggs. I immediately put her in the proper sand in a container and put that back in her cage. She just layed there and I think I was too late and she was just too weak. Anyways, I woke up this morning to find her on her side, dead. But she had some wierd looking stuff coming out the pee hole so I assume that was the eggs?? Is this the cause of her death or was it something else?? I'm pretty much devestated and I don't think I can take apart the cage.

Sounds like egg binding,or something of the sort, the eggs didn't develope entirely.

and they possibly ruptured within her. if its a yokey color.

So sorry for your loss. I hope something is figured out. Did you take her to have a necropsy done?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I didn't think senegals lay without being bred? Or am I thinking of a different species? Trace where are you?

To the best of my knowledge, Senegals don't lay eggs without having been mated.

Re: what was coming out of her...was it pink? Can you describe it a bit more. (Geesh...the things we discuss on this forum.)

eisentrauti...If you know better then why not say so...if not why bother making a one word comment that could be sarcasm or could just be a comment??
