Scooping poop?

OK, Karma's old cage STINKS. Part of that is because its plexi and enclosed. That will be fixed today with her new screen cage. And it was yuck when we got it and rather than stress her more, we decided to wait for new cage and just transfer her once.

My question is, do you scoop the poop from the bottom daily or whenever yours poops?

I scoop the catbox daily to reduce smell, so why not the cham box?!LOL

What do you use, if you do? I was thinking of getting a cheap plastic slotted spoon JUST for that purpose.

Now that you have a screen cage it shouldnt stink anymore. It was the standing water and crick poop/dead cricks that really stink. Cham poo doesnt have any smell that ive ever noticed. That is if our cham is healthy/ no parasites etc.. I just pick mine up a cpl times a week when i change the paper towels on the cage botom.

I figured it was that. It didnt smell when we got her but it was dry as a bone when we got there. They didnt drip water, just sprayed with a travel hairspray size sprayer once in awhile.
Her cage is yuck, the ficus was dry, the substrate was flyaway dry and the bottom was/is littered with dry poop. More than I thought, now that we have been in there moving stuff around. I think they just added substrate over the top of old substrate...YUCKO!
I mist her twice a day, she has ice cubes dripping once a day now and the ficus is watered.

I will just tidy it, once in the new cage like once or twice a week. And I KNOW the fresh air will help!

Yeah raising babies ive used glass and screen cages to better monitor eating and its hard to keep them from having that musty odor. Your chams going to be in heaven soon. Glad to hear she landed with a caring owner. Your addiction is just starting. LOL Now the hard part, not buying every cool looking cham you see. LOL

LOL, I know!
Everyone keeps posting their babies..... and I am like NO, we need to get Karma set-up completely the right way 1st... THEN.... we will see!LOL

As it is, when we were at Reptile store getting crickets, etc. they had an Oustalet's(sp?), a Veiled and a Jackson's........ It was SO tempting but before we get our next one we will get ALL it needs before it arrives so we start off correctly.

That doesnt mean that I am not checking CL daily though!LOL

SO TEMPTING!

Right now, she is doing her favorite pastime of watching my boys play video games..... Crazy Cham! She comes down from her basking perch to the branch closest to TV and watches them. I know she must like it because she does it like that ONLY when they play video games and she turns her bright happy green.....

Though she did do it this weekend when Ghostbusters was on too!LOL

ive heard ice cubes arent effective in that the water is so cold it deters them from drinking it. just use regular water; not too hot, not too cold. keep in mind that chameleons are a lot smaller than we are, therefore normal "warm" water may be a tad bit too hot for the cham, so shoot for a temp thats slightly less than that.

It works for some chameleons. While I've moved onto a dripper, I started with ice cubes and mine would go right up and drink it as it dripped off the ice, they didn't even wait for it to drip onto a leaf.

I always clean my chams poop as soon as I see they've dropped one. I have been known to actually catch poop on a tissue before it hits the floor! :D:eek: You can tell by their habits/body language what they're thinking, lol! That certain position, bum over branch, leg in the air... poop is on it's way! It doesn't happen very often that I catch them in the act, but when I do, I catch it as it happens - saves cleaning it from hard to reach branches, etc!:D

ROFL!!!
Yep, Karma gets stripes on her tail! And not pale stripes, she is nice and green all over but her tail looks like a racoons. Dark black stripes!

Amazing what we Cham parents figure out!LOL
