Saliva or mucus?!?! HELP

Ok I'm like freaking out now... I saw my chameleon under his basking light and I saw his mouth open for a few seconds. I saw gooey stuff from the roof of the mouth to the bottom of his mouth. It's connected but I'm not sure if it was mucus or saliva....Help????

could you snap a pic next time he opens his mouth. They do have salive sometimes that goes from top to bottom of their mouth but not too excessive.
