what woods are safe for veileds? im making a cage on i need to use wood for the frame

Don't use cedar or any pressure treated (weather proofed) wood. The cedar oils are irritating and the pressure treated stuff can leach toxic heavy metals such as cadmium.

Any wood you use will need to be coated with water based sealer...multiple coats. Polyurethane floor seal works. Make sure it cures completely.

Sealed wood, with a varnish of polyurethane, or some other shellac, is going to be fine (even cedar). Just leave it out to cure and air out for a long while. Like Carlton, I would not use any pressure treated wood or preservative-enhanced woods. They never seen to stop ex-gassing.

If you can find it, southern cypress is great and its very rot-resistant naturally. It tools very nicely too.

Or you can just paint it with a latex paint and move the chameleon in the next day.
This is what I have done with the enclosures I have built and it's fine as long as you don't pick a color that will stress your chameleon.
