Sadness prevails with my brevs

My two lady brevs have both died. I have 5 eggs from them which I hope will hatch but I am so sad. I still have the male who looks healthy but I loved those little buttons so much. All three are wild caught. Not much vet care you can give to these guys.

So, those of you who have been successful in raising and breeding brevs give me some instructions. I have posted pics of their home, in fact, I just did a redo because of gnats so I know everything is clean. Do you think they had parasites? The male looks good. He wanders around, has his eyes open all day and I have seen him eating crickets and fruit flies.

I give them a spray of water about 3 times a day so there is moisture on the leaves and have put springtails and isopods in my soil mix. (Unless they ate them all.)

Help please because I want to keep these marvelous little animals.

I'm so sorry:( I know you will get things figured out before the eggs hatch. These guys will be healthier in your care and hopefully it was just because your girls were wild caught. Good luck.

hun dont beat yaself up over it with wc it happens i bought 1.3in jan and lost my last female the day clea lost his male. i have the 8 babies from the last female im almost thinkin about sellin my adult male and all my little ones and gettin a diff kina pyg..

Thanks guys. I really don't like to get wild caught anything because of all the unknowns, but I did it anyway because they were so damn cute!

I kind of wonder if it is something with the females, maybe they are more fragle or something. I tried raising brevs and gave up after buying and losing 4 different females. Little male was still going strong so I sent him to my sis to add with hers. He is still fine but the 2 females she had with him died. Now she has 1 pair and my little guy is alone again.:(

Don't blame yourself, it is happening to a lot of us. I am sorry it had to happen to you also, and it seems to be just the females. I know you provided a good home for them so now we will hope f or the eggs and maybe females hatched here will do better.

If you try WC pygs again, hit them with a little reptaid. Only about 2 drops a animal everyday for 5 days. This is what I did last year when I was working with brevs. They did great after the treatment. Goodluck!

there isnt much choice jan i havent seen cb ones around an here i have 8 now id thought about gettin a big clan goin but not sure cause i need more w/c's to do so, so like i said almost thinkin bout sellin all them and tryen to find some Brookesia Stumpffi or something else and breed those..

I know that Stefan will be getting another female when he returns. Maybe we can buy 3 together then only pay one shipping charge. Not that I'm cheap, but when they die off so fast it is a waste. I will try to give them reptaid the next time I get some.

Naomi I am so sorry for your loss! It's hard. It's really hard. These little guys have such a large effect on us and our hearts. When I get back home we can defiantly look and possibly buy pygmys together. I know have 2 females. 1 is cb the other is wc. Hopefully they stay strong now. Once again I'm really sorry:(

oops, thought you lost a female. We might have a bunch of babies by the time you get back. Your eggs are starting to look glassy. :)
