I have noticed today that my rudis cham has been showing ugly colors today. He's been showing a real black/dark greenish color, And its not cause he's basking. It doesnt look good.I have him outside, He gets natural direct sun with enough shade, But i also have a repti-sun 5.0 lamp on him just to be on the safe side.I live in los angeles, its always sunny out here, Just that not today, I only have a repti-sun 5.0 lamp on him so could that be a problem?, COuld it be that i need the basking lamp when its cloudy and no sun?

He is dark because he has not had a chance to warm up today. A basking lamp would be important so he could warm up. The will move in and out from under the lamp to regulate heat. He should have it for when he is inside not just on cloudy days.

Thanks for the help!.You mentioned" He should have it for when he is inside, not just on cloudy days", What do you mean by " when he is inside" I dont have the cham indoors, He stays outside.

when you say rudis chameleon, I also immediately think it was an indoor kept chameleon.
How do you compensate for its high humidity and low temp requirement?
SoCal can be quite crazy during summer.
