hi, new to this forum and need advise, can i use rope instead of vine for my baby cham to climb as she is getting to big for the vine i have in there at the minute and she usually prefers to swing from the plants anyway. have had her since july and she has shed twice so she seems to be growing fairly quickly. thanks

I have been using some ropes in a couple of my cages for a while now... I would not advice them to anyone. Go with the Vines... I am removing the rope...It absorbs to much water and starts to frill out and degrade. I actually was hanging a pothos on one rope, and over time it degraded where the plant was hanging and it broke...Could have been very dangerous for the Cham...Luckily he was on the other side of the cage when it happened.

I have never used rope but I do use the fake vines. I was buying them from the petstore but came across some at a fake plant store. I believe it's $1.29 for 6 feet of it where I buy it. I also use tons of "clean" driftwood from the lake near my house.

I also use branches and Vines.

I have interwoven two different sized vines together and strung this accross the cage, the chams love to lazily lie on these as theyre slightly wider than any other vine.

That is brilliant. I am going to look into that first thing tomorrow. Baby Bio vine by the 50ft roll is like $50. And I'm a poor college kid :D

I use branches from around my house that aren't all cruddy or anything and while I have heard many variations of this my method is to soak them in the bathtub in hot water with a little splash of bleach and squirt of hand soap. Then I rinse them well and soak them again in clean water...in case the bleach has permeated them or whatever. And then, if they are small enough, I put them in the oven. Or if they are big I leave them out in the sun. I then use twist-ties to attach them around the cage. I bought a roll of it at the dollar store.

well its not a fake plant store, but walmart has the same fake vines that are like 5 dollars for 6 ft or something like that.

Also, lowes in lubbock where i'm from had some really nice pothos on sale for 5 dollars for a huge pot and i twisted 2 of the vines together and had a few goto the top of the cage twisted together and he loves it

Thanks for the advice. . . . . .i have vine but she fell from the top of the cage to the bottom some 2-3 foot yesterday as i think its to small for her to balance on as she has grown quite a bit. so i will have to find something wider or her. she seems ok as i have grass lining the floor of her viv but i was not happy. i live in cornwall uk, so dont have alot of choice of places to shop. thanks again:)
