Reptibreeze XL

Hi all,

I am considering getting one of the above. Just want to know how you guys tackle drainage?

Cheers

I have my large reptibreeze sat in a large square planter 60cm x 60cm. I have a shower surtain arond the back coming halfway across both side panels to keep the mister from misting my walls and to keep humidity in..

All the water drops eventually into the large black planter whose sides are about 10cm high (don't know what it was originally for but I got it from the gardening section of a UK garden superstore)

I have a hole in the corner of the drainage tray, a small bit of piping leading down into a bucket. Twice a day I open the bottom section of the reptibreeze and put on some disposable gloves and wipe out the poo/ suicidal locusts and crickets and all the other muck, then make sure its all bone dry with kitchen paper before starting the whole process again the next day!!

You've really got to love these lttlle guys to go through all this hassle eh??

Thanks for your reply. Which store did you buy from?

As you live in the UK like me, how do you find the reptibreeze in the autumn/winter?

I am considering one of these but don't want the little guy to get cold or lack humidity.

I bought from Surrey Pet supplies who I find to be wonderful but seem to get mixed opinions from other sites!!

Autumn winter, central heating will be on anyway so makes no difference.

I find the temp stays at about 78f during day with basking lights and uvb, humidity at about 60% with a constant dripper and 3 good long mistings.

I have a very active chameleon who seems happy enough with all this!

Sorry, I meant the large planter. Which store did you get that from? I have a b&q local so I'll take a trip there and have a look around.

Bump! Are there any other ideas out there? As it stands I need a stand for my Retibreeze and a practical way of collecting drainage water.

My suggestion would be to not mist so much that you require drainage.
Just have your timer to mist multiple times a day for 1-2 minutes.
All the plants will be soaked but not require you to empty buckets of water daily.

Hmmm, I disagree and think you need LOTS of misting to keep happy Chams and the water has to go somewhere. Like I said before, I got this huge black tray 60cm x 60cm, 10cm deep from a garden centre and it cost £6.99. It was in and around the green house section. I put the reptibreeze in this tray (but without that little white plastic base tray provided in the reptibreeze kit).

I've made a small hole (with a screw driver heated over my gas hob) in one corner and all the waste water drains into a bucket underneath. It ensures the Viv gets dry between sprayings, leaves no stagnant water etc and looks tidy.

If you vcan't get to a garden centre this is the same thing but for twice the price! Go to http://www.garlandproducts.com and search for square garden tray G45.

Good luck
