What is the best way to rearrange a chameleons cage without stressing him out too much?

Take him out of it first and put him on a plant or tree. Don't want that to come off too sarcastic Do you handle him, or is he new and stresses out when you try to handle him? Is it absolutely necessary to rearrange the cage now for his health? Would it be ok to wait until he can be removed from the cage to rearrange things? Just my 2 cents - if he stresses easily, I'd wait until you can comfortably get him on your hand, then redecorate to your heart's content!

well as of now how the pet store set up the enclosure he cant get close to the heat lamp or the uvb/uva so its necessary. and i handle him once a day for 5-10 minutes.

OK, then get another plant or tree for him to hang out on, have all of the supplies you need for redecorating, and then once everything is in place, remove him from his cage and put him on his tree or plant. Fix what you need to in the cage and put him back in. Being able to handle him will make this much simpler.

As long as your bulb is less than 6 months old you will be fine. He should be able to get within 6" of the UVB

thatssss alot lol. the bulb is brand new and my local bearded dragon store (only bearded dragons, uros and the occasional chameleon) tests uvb bulbs for free. glad to see a pet store that isnt interested in making money off every little thing.
