Really want a female

Thinking bout getting a female, at the moment I have a blue bar ambilobe who is about 7 months old and thriving. I now want to get a female so I can eventually breed them, I'm thinking maybe a nosy mitsio or nosy be, wot are your thoughts :)

Crosses dont sell as well and many people tend to be against crossing locales (especially if you're crossing with a more rare locale like a mitsio!) As long as you are honest and make sure your buyers know that they are crossed I don't have an issue with it. Its just incredibly important that you do not mislead anyone as lines can become impure if the buyers don't understand that the offspring are not pure. Females tend to be the bigger issue because there is know way to visually know that they are not pure.

True, true, and true! I would just get another ambilobe if your looking to make a little more coin. Crosses are badass though if your just breeding for hobby! Makes sure its a reputable breeder when you do go for a female tho!:D

Im not going to get into the crosses debate. That horse has been beaten to death.

Your not going to find a mitsio female. And if you do please plase please don use her to breed to anything but another pure male mitsio. That locale is so rare and the females are so rare to waste even 1 to be crossed is an absolute waste. You can cross whatever you'd like but dont use a rare locale female. And from what Ive heard we arent going to see any mitsio shipments from Maddy anytime soon. So plz choose another locale. Jmpo

Ok fair enough, I'd never lead anybody in to believing that they are what they are not if that makes sense! I was just thinking of the wicked colours that could come from them! After seeing my Cham today after his shed today I'm now thinking another ambilobe! (pics to follow) how about a blue bar x red bar???

Make ya some purps! Haha that would be a nice morph cross. Maybe a sambava or high white faly would be cool.

Personally I'd try to find a female from a nice looking yellow bodied blue bar male. Cham Northwest has some babies now from great looking yellow bodied male. Also Fl Chams has a nice yellow bodied male his name is Hunter. I would try and bring out his yellow body & blue bars in his offspring. You dont see many full bodied yellow ambilobes with clean blue bars. Your male has nice clean bars I 'd work with what you have there already. Jmpo....

you can find a pure ambilobe female for under 250 shipped to your door... check out the forum classifieds.or the site sponcers. If your male is pure find him a pure girl.........

Your boy is a blue bar all the way (regardless of his parents.) When you breed a red bar and a blue bar ambilobe, you can get either color or both for the offspring and sometimes even purple but it is a rare bar color. If you breed the same bar color together (red x red, blue x blue) the offspring are more likely to have the same bar color, but not always. TPM is right, you have a really nice yellow body blue bar so I would try to get another with similar colors. There aren't a whole lot of yellow body blue bars with clean blue bars around.
