Just for the newbs and not so new.. I'm looking for what methods and media the members, here , are using for their eggs.

Please reply with the following info....

1/ what type media??( vermiculite, perlite, hatchrite, etc.)

2/ how much water to media ratio???(1:1,2:1, don't know...etc.)

3/ How often do you check your egg containers for moisture???

4/What method do you use to determine moisture ???(scale, eye ball, pinch test..etc)

5/ Do you incubate in an incubator or at room temp??

So I'll go first...

1/ vermiculite

2/ eyeball.. don't know

3/ check once every 4 weeks

4/ eyeball and pinch test

5/ I use an incubator at 77F daytime and 74F nighttime

You said.."what type media??"...vermiculite (coarse grain)

You said..."how much water to media ratio???"... it depends on the species...veileds and panthers...take a fist full and squeeze it...if no more than a drop or two of water comes out then its right.

You said..."How often do you check your egg containers for moisture???"... at first, I check every few days and then about once or twice a month until the last few weeks...then back to checking a little more often.

You said..."Do you incubate in an incubator or at room temp??"...again it depends on the species. Veiled eggs I incubate at about 74F.

I guess I'll put in what I do.

Vermiculite, or Bed a Beast

Eyeball

Every other day

Depending on the Species, for Pygmys I do Room Temp. When I get Carpets I will also be incubating at Room Temp.
