I'm curious where the Jax were collected - I assume Hawaii to have come in contact with this particular parasite. Since birds are known carriers, I guess this doesn't really surprise me. According to the CDC, human cases are extremely rare. CDC website says that birds are susceptible to the parasite - muscle spasms, weakness, then death. I'm curious if the study documented these symptoms in chams.
This would be a relatively minor concern for any North American collected specimens where children handle the WC chams. Potentially a minor concern for those that keep their collections outdoors or have the potential to cross contaminate CB/CH animals, also.
Wash your hands and practice good quarantine, people!
Better off to purchase the cb chameleons than some wild import, always wash ur hand every time when u handling different reptiles n feeders ,it will help to protect u and the reptiles in a long run!!
