R.I.P. 2004 MZ 100 cc

Anyone know how to fix quads? MZ parts are extremely hard to get now.... wish they weren't.

Rest in peace my widdle quad. You were the first quad I ever owned/rode!

Background story:
After repeatedly telling my dad that I wanted to put my quad into storage, offering to pay to put it in storage, put a tarp on it, move it into shade, etc..
He tells me he already moved it, already put a tarp on it, blah blah..

Well, after coming over to his house for the first time in months..... My quad is now so destroyed from the AZ sun that I doubt I will ever be able to ride it again.
(Won't start, won't run with a new battery, etc.. not to mention I would need to buy new tires.. FFFFFFFDSFGDFKJG)
This will be the second thing of mine that he has left out in the sun without telling me. ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN.

Oh, and if anyone says I should have taken responsibility for the quad, I tried, for weeks at a time, on more than one occasion. (Parents divorced, me and my dad fight a lot, etc).
If this turns into another one of the "Oh no back to school" type of threads, I will not be posting on here for a long time.

That bike can be brought back to new for actuallyu a lot less then you think.


I let you in on a little MX secret.....We like to call "New bike in a can"

Wash your bike, use steel wool on the rusted areas to remove it, then spray the entire bike with SC1. It will coat, protect, and bring back lusture to any surface. Spray it and let it sit on the bike for about 15mins then wipe off the excess on the areas that you touch (seat,fenders,grips) It smells good too!

I bet the no start issue is just a dirty carb. If fuel sits for to long it will clog the jets and varnish the inside of the carb causing it to run poorly or not start at all. Simple fix... have your dad remove the carn and clean the jets and internals with carb cleaner, fill the talk with fresh gas, and away you go.


If you really need to the tires can be replaced for about $15 each, find a local shop to get you the tires and do it yourself. 4 Tires...$60, 2 Tire spoons...$5, Changing your own tires.....tons of fun! Seriously it's not that hard.

I just sold a Yamaha Raptor 660 that was only ridden in sand.... I actually kinda miss that thing. Quads are fun a relaxing, great for exploring.

LOL! Easier said than done. Getting him to do something would take as much effort as doing it myself times two.

I'll look into that new bike in a can. There are two shops in AJ (I think?) and I'll see what's up. I think some fuel was left in it, not 100% sure.

P.S. The plastic etc. wasn't what I was worried about. MZ Motorcycles (German) who makes these went out of business (recently?).

Ah Syn we all outgrow our first rides. And it is very sad to see them go. When I sold my first Honda CR 85 I cried like a child. Even though my knees were practically hitting my chin when I rode her..... it was a very funny sight. But they are always remembered with fondness, and in my case a broken wrist and some scaring from grazes.....

This quad wasn't very front heavy so I always hand trouble going uphill and having this thing fall right on top of me. Luckily, it wasn't as heavy as my dad's 325 polaris.

Jay is 100% right about the carb thing. That's usually what happens when things that run on gas sit for a long time without being ran. There is a additive that you can buy and put in the gas just before retiring the vehicle/whatever that will prevent this from happening. I forget the name, but most automotive stores should carry it. I use it in my generator because it only gets ran during a long power outage.

It's called Sta-Bil, and it works well. I use the marine formula in my boat during the winter storage period.
