Quick response needed: Re lighting !

we just bought a few of the xl DIY cages with the hoods. The lighting we are planning to use is the reptisun 5.0 with the zoomed 100watt blue for basking..

Someone suggested the reptisun mercury heat in one combo but that won't work with our new hood fixtures.

Is our original lighting appropriate for our adults?? (the reptisun 5.0 plus zoomed 100 watt)??

Thanks,
Paige

Reptisun 5.0 TUBE, not coil light is perfect, 100W (if that makes your temps) is fine, but not a blue light. Use another regular bulb. No lights on at night

i think the daylight blue bulbs are actually ok. the light that comes off of those arent really blue.

we have the tube.. the zoomed blue 100 watt bulb is made to go with the 5.0 reptisun.. Just making sure we don't HAVE to use the mercury vapor..

What are most using for the adult cages?

you dont have to use a mercury vapor bulb as well, its usually one or the other.

most are using the tube style reptisun 5.0 and a normal house incandescent bulb - seems most people have luck with a 40/60 watts but i personally didnt.

Reptisun 5.0 tube and white house bulb to achieve the basking temp you desire. What wattage you use will depend on your individual house temps. For instance, my house is kept at around 73-74 so cage temp without lights on is that temp. With 60 watt housebulb on it is around 88 degrees or so under basking. If your house it hotter than you might not need a 60. Maybe a 40 only. I have an adult male panther. You basking depends on what the age and species is of your chameleon.
