quick one on UVB bulbs???

what is the difference between the compact fluorescent spiral 5.0 bulb and the the slightly larger 5.0 bulb that is has three linear tubes? the larger one is a little pricier, but is it worth it? or is there a significant difference?

i never herd of the 3 long linear tubes,but i dont think either would be good get a tube 5.0 it covers more of the cage so you cham gets more UVB,tubes over spiral UVB In my opinion

yes get that one. has a massive lifespan and is better for your chameleon

there doesnt seem to be a differnce but i may be wrong...i use the spiral one for my little vieled cham but once i get him a bigger cage im getting him a tube UVB for more coverage..like i said i strongly suggest gettign tube but spiral should be fine.

the spiral ones have been said to not be good for chameleons.

from what i've seen they fix that problem which hurt the chameleons eyes and eventually blided them..my vieled has been under the spiral light for atleast 2 months..and nother unusual.

The tube is the "proven safe" option, but the new spirals are good too. Just make sure it's not an older product (find out how long the store has had it).

Coltrain, you posted a link to Amazon. Maybe that's because it was easy but just in case you don't know, I wanted to say that board sponsor LLL Reptile has that bulb for less. You can also order just about everything you need from them, so you might want to check them out.

The Spiral tube is an Exo Terra compact flouresent.... They are pretty much the same as the Zoo Med in quality but dont last as long. Thats why they are cheaper at Amazon. The compacts generally produce stronger UVB but wont spread it out as far side to side as a tube .... obviously. I like them because my cham gets a bit stronger output when he wants but can get around more of the cage that doesnt have UVB if he prefers
