Questions on crickets for new babies

Chameleon Enthusiast
I'm working with my first ever hatch of chameleons, 12 graciliors hatched over the weekend.

I just received 1000 1/8th inch crickets from Ghanns and it looks like they are too small and not enough. Today I'm going to place another order for 1/4" crickets.

How many (1/4") crickets should I be ordering at a time and how often do you breeders order them?

I've found my quads to be very sensitive to commercial crickets, often developing edemas the day after I feed a new shipment even when I hold my crickets for a week or longer and feed them only really good wholesome food--Cricket Crack, fresh grass, clover, fruit and veggies. It seems some cricket orders are worse than others and some suppliers are worse than others.

Do you experienced breeders hold commercially bred crickets for a few days/weeks before you feed them to montane neonates?

I've never noticed an issue. If you're feeding more than just the crickets you shouldn't have a problem.

I wouldn't necessarily order more just yet. It won't take long for those crickets to be bigger. You have lots a fruit flies and other smaller feeders right?
