Good afternoon, all!
I'll be getting a chameleon in the near future, and I wanted to know what types are best to start with and why. I've already done a lot of research on care and prices, but I always hear different opinions on which ones are the best to start with. A lot of people agree that Panthers and Veileds are the best. I've been told they have good tempers, and adapt fairly well. I've seen a few people state that the Jacksons is the best starter, but I've never heard any reason why.
I know I'm going to select a male, no doubts about that. I love all scaly critters, but I'm not new to owning reptiles, and I can easily say that I'm not a fan of any egg laying since I'm not trying to get them to mate. And since I will be a new chameleon owner, I'm sure it's not the best idea to get a female.
I took a look around Repticon last time they were in my state a few months ago. I scoped out all the excellent breeders and questioned them to death about the care of their chameleons. I have my list narrowed down, and I hope to make a purchase when they're back in the area. But if I miss the con I'll still buy from 'em. I just rather it be sooner than later.
