My adult melleri has been constantly up at the basking light. He was w/c but have had him over a year. About 1 week ago he started staying up at the basking light all day long, which is 90%. Before that he would spend the day up and down and would always go towards the bottom to go to sleep by about 5 pm. Now he stays up top. Everything else is the same. Although i am having a hard time getting him to drink, he doesn't seem to be drinking as much. He isn't dehydrated but have given him a shower to make sure. I just don't understand what would make him need the heat constantly. Any ideas? The rooms temp is the same and there is no drafts. I don't know for sure if it is a boy because you can't tell with them, but there is dirt in the bottom and he has never tried digging so i am assuming it is a male.

what kinda lamps are you using? do you have uvb? when was the last time you replaced the uvb source? what is the basking temp?

Two thoughts for you,
1. He is a girl?!?!?!...has "he" gained a lot of weight recently?
2. He is fighting a infection.
Good luck,
T.

As i stated the basking is 90% which is perfect for a melleri. He/she hasn't gained any weight, he was checked for parasites when i got him and treated. He is in my bedroom because of the high stress levels of melleri and is alone most of the day. New uvb. I must say though the supplements might be off. I give him what he is suppose to have but he doesn't always eat everyday so by the time he does some of the stuff might be off. Vet never did a blood test though. Did i mention he isn't drinking as much as he usually does. Food intake is off a litttle bit too. Does it sound like it is time for a vet check? What kind of virus or infection could it be?
