Question about the first egg cycle

Is the first egg cycle always infertile? Annabell ( 9 months old 94g) isnt showing gravid just yet but was successfully breed over the last three days.

So is there a chance of the soon to be eggs being fertile?

Assuming its a veiled...I don't recoommend breeding them until they are over 1 year of age and full grown....just don't like to put egglaying demands on them until they have stopped growing their bones, etc.

As for the first clutch...it depends on where she is in her cycle when you breed her. If she is already producing eggs when you mate her then the first clutch can contain some fertile and some infertile. If she is really far along in the cycle the whole clutch may be infertile and "dumped" before the normal 30days.

Since she is sexually mature, I hope you have a suitable place for her to dig in her cage??

She is a panther. Shes has been pretty large for her age IMO. I have another female who is about 7.5 months currently weights 64g and her growth has been much slower then Annabells. At 7 months Annabell weighted 72g. Annabell has consistantly weighted around 90-94g over the last 3 weeks. So im assuming she is pretty much at full growth...and very healthly.

I have a container ready when she shows gravid colors. she is caged in a 24X24x48 right now. After she lays im thinking about downsizing her into a 18x18x36.

So basicly if she has eggs in her during mating she MAY have fertile eggs if not then she wont retain the sperm and cycle a infertile clutch?
