Question about lighting

I have 4 foot long UBV lights, two bulbs in a ballast. Now is it better to have that on the top of the cage, or can I put it down the side of my cage? Personally I would rather it down the side of the cage and have my basking lamps on top, but I'm worried about hurting my buddies eyes or it just being to bright for him.

Put it on top, along with the basking light

Agree. If you put it on top the cham will automatically get the UV exposure while it basks. If you want more light for the lower areas of the cage and to help keep your live plants bushier, you can always set a regular fluorescent tube along one side. I like putting one along one corner of the cage frame facing away from MY eyes so the glare doesn't block my view.
