Question about baby Jackson

I was wondering if I can start using the vitamins and calcium powders or when should I start? My baby is 3.5 months old and I thought i read to wait until 6 months old but I'm not sure. I just want to do what is best for him. Thank you.

I have seen the "6 month rule" recommended as well, but I would like to preface that with I have never raised a Jacksons from that age.

A VERY light calcium dusting on crickets once a week might be a good idea, but I would hold off on the vitamins until a little older. Jacksons can overdose more easily than other common types of chameleons. Plus it is impossible to know what doses a Jax is getting with dust.

However, this makes the quality of the gutload for your insects absolutely critical. You need to make sure that your insects are eating very good quality food to make sure your baby is getting everything he needs. I would recommend a mix of fresh fruits/veggies (apples, peppers, oranges, butternut squash, etc) plus a commercial bug food like Bug Burger or Cricket Crack.

At about 6 months, you can start a regular rotation:

Regular calcium 3 times a week (or always on crickets)
Multivitamin with d3 only 1 time per month (not twice monthly)

Best of luck, and we want photos!
