Putting my Chameleon outside

I decided to put my Chameleon outside to see if he seems happier. It's definitely more humid and warmer out there.

As soon as I put him in the cage he climbed up the screen and stayed there. He's still dark.

Is there anything different I need to do to keep him outside? He will get sunlight but, not direct as I placed his cage on the porch. I will still mist him and feed him properly.

Would appreciate any info or opinions!

Thanks!

Fl is good. Watch out for birds, coons, possums, snakes, etc... Make sure he doesn't get too much afternoon sun, when it is the hottest, say 90°f plus. Always offer shade. Make sure to offer plenty of mistings. It may take him a couple days to lighten up when outside. They will darken to absorb heat and/or show stress from new area. They really show great coloration in natural sunlight once they become used to it. Kudos for finally getting him outside. I am sure you made his christmas card list this year, now! :D

My Porch faces the east so the only sun he will actually get is Morning. So He's good in that case.

I went out to mist his cage and leave him a few crickets this morning and he is still hanging on the screen and very dark.

This is the Cham my friend found on a Road backing up traffic last week. I think he longs to be free. It kind of breaks my heart but, I know he would get eaten in the wild.

What do you think?

if he is under a a porch, and isnt getting direct sun, then hes probably cold.

He can handle direct sun just fine, so long as you provide some plants for shade when he wants it.

Dark colors means they are either stressed, or trying to absorb more heat.

My chams all turn dark for a while when they first enter the real sun, but then they chill out and turn these really pretty colors.
