Alright, so a friend of mine REALLY wants a chameleon. Basically, what all do I need to tell her to consider before possibly getting one? That may seem like a silly question, but I want to make sure that she's prepared and she thinks this through a number of times. I'd love for her to get a chameleon, but of course my top concern is the chameleon's health and happiness. In addition, I want to make sure she gets a young and healthy CBB cham. Please chip in with your thoughts and stuff.

One more thing-she says she doesn't want a big chameleon, so which species stay on the small/medium side and are easy to care for? I'm thinking a Jackson's or a female panther/veiled, but then she'd have to give the cham a laying bin and stuff.

I would have her look over the Care Resources on our home page(to the left) and read all the requirements she will need depending on what species she wishes to get. It lists all the species and their care sheets and what is needed to set up an enclosure properly. A panther or Veild are usually what beginners start out with. Make her aware that she has to handle bugs and a variety of them too that she needs to keep as feeders. They all need to be fed as well, and their containers also have to be cleaned on a regular basis. Also, make sure she is aware that chameleons do get sick just like any other pet, so if she does not have money to spend for a vet then she might want to reconsider. I see it too often on here that everyone is coming on here for advice on a home remedy for their sick chameleon because they do not have money for a vet. If you cannot afford one and give it 100% what it needs, then don't get one.
