ok so i have had kevin the veiled for 3 months and he is about 5-6 months.
suddenly he has reduced his eating and appears desperate to leave his cage and sit above the window on a curtain rail. i have filled a previous care form out and nothing has changed, my question is,
where should my uv 5.0 repti tube be positioned ? i have always had it fastened onto the side of the cage at the same side as his basking spot so he is always approx 3-4 inchs away from it, is this too close ?, will it hurt his eyes? could this be the reason for his sudden appetite change ?

No that is not too close, Mine sits on the top of my screen cage and I have a branch below it that is about 4-5 inches down. If he sits out of the cage all day you will have to find a way to get the uvb to him. Or just put him back in the cage to make sure he is getting time to bask and get uvb. Before I got my outdoor cage, when I free range my cham, I would put him out to free range for a few hours and then I put him back in the cage and close the door so he has to stay in there and I usually find him under the basking light..

Tried him on crickets which he came eating, but suddenly took a dislike to them.
He took locusts like they were going out of fashion, then introduced morio worms, meal worms, the odd wax worm, calci worms and fruit grubs of which he was eating quite well.
Then we gave him some kale and spring greens which he absolutely loved and still does. BUT he seems to have gone all vegetarian all of a sudden. He reduced his intake over a period of three weeks to the point where he only takes very little live insects but would eat his greens.
I've tried to reduce his greens so he only gets them once or twice a week, in the hope that he will go back to his insects.
I think he is due a shed which could be the reason for not eating quite as well?

maybe he needs more vitamins or calcium since hes eating the plants his trying to compensate? Or moisture you seem to care for him good so I dought its the misting who knows maybe a vet visit would help. Also maybe he needs a bigger cage whats the cage size? If he continues to not eat go to a vet he may be impacted or have something that is keeping him from eating.
