Pooping?

Ok, so first my cham does not want to eat crickets, and now he has not pooped in 2 or 3 days. He is only eating superworms. i am gutloading them and I just ordered some silkworms to try and they will be here on tuesday. He is 8 mos old. Do I need to be concerned? He usually would poop every day or every other but I think today is the third day and nothing so far. Could it be the change of the diet and not eating the crickets. He stopped eating the crickets on wednesday,

Sounds like he could be impacted. Is he able to eat dirt or any kind of substrate?

How do you get him to eat dirt? I dont have any substrate in the cage. It is wood on the bottom. I have a large cheffelera in there. He could get down to the dirt if he wanted to.

no I dont think so. He has been drinking. I had him outside this morning and I was misting his hibiscus tree and he was drinking as I was misting. i am just wondering if because of not eating the crickets it has changed his diet obviously which means maybe a change in bowel movements?

Didn't you just order him some hornworms? They should make him poop and give him plenty of extra water.

I ordered silkworms! It should have been hornworms? What if he wont eat the silks!? I tried mealworms. He would not touch those either, just those darn supers. What do you do if they dont go the bathroom? and what is the longest they can go before it becomes real serious?

Jann, I ordered from coastal and they should be here on tuesday. Should I change the order?

You can massage his tummy in a bowl of warm water. Some people give a drop of Cod Liver Oil or a warm shower. I wouldn't worry about doing anything for a few more days. If the silkworms are fairly large they should help, too.

OMG! I just checked the plants real good and found a big fresh poop! And it looks perfect! Sorry for the false alarm all! I never thought I would be so happy to see a piece of poop! lol!

I was thinking maybe dehydration as well. Make sure you keep plenty of water for him to drink and when you get the worms feed him plenty and keep water on hand. Hopefully this trick helps and he begins to poop again shortly. If not then I would suggest a visit t the vet to find out what is wrong with him for sure.
