I had a bad experience with something similar to that. When I was younger I had African Fat Tailed Geckos. One day my dad caught a mole cricket and we decided to feed it to the male. When we got it in his mouth it started to burrow through his neck . We got it out and disposed of the mole cricket and patched up the little guy, sadly though I think he didn't last long after that .

But seriously, chameleons might be venomous (I suppose).

Many snakes and lizards we think of as non-venomous are in fact venomous.

Bearded dragons for example have venom similar to rattlesnake venom, but delivered in such small amounts it does not have effect on us.

This was found true for most lizards several years ago (most snakes too), so although I do not know if they are venomous or not, it would not surprise me to learn that chameleons were also venomous.

(Poisonous=if you bite it, you are harmed, venomous=if it bites you, you are harmed. So poisonous vs venomous all depends on who is biting who ).

And no, I am not joking.

Gila monster, venomous
Komodo dragon, venomous (even tho for a long time it was thought bacteria would cause prey to die)

Maybe an interesting thought on the poisonous, if you look at poison dart frogs, they are mostly poisonous because of the termites they eat...
This could also count for some chameleons.
