uncommon for me, very common for you folks in the states. i was able to get my hands on a couple dubias to try them out from a local guy who breeds dubias.

am i weird for thinkin these guys are awsome looking, and some what cute? anyways whatever, cant wait to feed them. a couple questions though and i couldnt find much in a search, so i will shoot.

1) can i keep this container in my roach bin to keep it warm?
2) the guy who breeds them, lives them off of the bottom of the bag dog food. i would never gut load with cat/dog/fish food due to the high protene and fat content. how long does a dubia take to flush out what is in it and build up what i feed them? i was for sure going to wait at least 3 days before feeding them off.
3) if my chams like them, is it profitable to breed them?..... um..i realise this is a dumb question so opinions if wanting to share  WAIT! actually no.... is breeding them a concern due to potential infestation? HA.

thanks guys
-Phil

Hey a fellow Canadian!! lol From what ive read they are very easy to breed so its something to look into if you are short on cash, i will hopefully have mine up and running whenever i get some :p They are a pretty good staple food for them if you are low on crickets. If you are worried about the fat content of the previous gut load just wait and let them breed then use the new ones if you can, or leave them for a couple of days to a week with your own gutloading and then feed them. Btw are you going to the reptile expo this weekend?? Im pickin up my first cham woot woot! lol

EHHH SALUTE DE FELLOWE CANADIEAN!!!! j'maple Veiled des Owner87. hahaha my goodness i cannot speak french at all. why are all the keepers past london? nobody comes from windsor :( anyways, i asked for small dubias, so i dont even know when ill be able to breed them, plus i wanted to try them out to see if my chams would even like them. im just going to wait a few days gut loading them with my own stuff, and if great success, i will buy some adults.

p.s good luck with finding a great cham that suites you! cant wait to see pics!

the exotic reptile store that i deal with just showed me a brand new product they had. haha they just got in a baby panther (no documents but will be finding out the locale at the expo) they know me as the chameleon guy! lol. go there and look for (Vivarium exotics) and mention me (phil) and be like yoooo! hahah Brent and Kyle are awsome guys

Ill post pics as soon as i can, i probably wont take any when i bring him home since i want him to get comfortable first. Or maybe if im really excited ill bring him out haha i have a spare live plant outside his cage to put him on so i may put him on that before i put him in the cage and snap a few pics

I don't know how strict your Canadian version of the Fish & Game is but posting this online could get you in trouble. :x

Only if he gets caught :p I actually worked for the Canadian Government over the summer and they seemed pretty strict, but that was mostly for imports/exports, if its already in the country and not being shipped inter provincially then its not too bad

then they would be very upset with the fact that i plan on infesting the city with them ;) TOTALY KIDDING!, but thanks for the concern syn. i know hornworms used to be illegal here now, but as long as eggs are hatched in captivity they are legal. it im sure it is fine to have dubias personally, but it is fact that it is illegal to sell them publicly. i dont know, laws are stupid. but i appricieate it syn.

p.s i seen a pic of you rocking an a7x shirt, i woulda shiped and sold you my s. gates custom stupidly cheap or traded for a lizzy

JAMELON IS A NARC EVERYONE!!! WATCH OUT ALL YOU CANNUCKS ON HERE!!!! :p:D;)

I think I can hear the clip clop of the mounties horses approaching you fast!

But for real. From what I have read and gathered, dubias are pretty easy to care for. I just youtube a couple vids about dubia roach set ups and I was watching vids for an hour checking out all the various set ups that made it on that site. I hope so, I do believe my batch o 500 will be here tomorrow.

They are roaches after all can't be too hard to keep them alive.

i used to be real heavy into them. i had synyster gate's model with the custom pick ups that looked like they had diamonds in them lol.

lol cain your awsome. im not at all heavy into that music anymore, i jam it out once in a while, but i like to play more metalcore stuff cause i like to sing too

btw, i dont think americans are ignorant, i love my southern neighbours :D if it wernt for you guys, we would have no Cracker Barrels or Detroit Red Wings. OHHHHH im gonna get some shuns for that now arent i? hahaha

I have been breeding a colony for about a half a year now and i won't ever have to buy crickets again! don't worry about infestations, especially this time of the year. They are tropical and can not live in the cold weather. They need a bin with a heat pad so they stay above 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure they get a steady supply of food so they also get water. They will not eat the cricket quencher so you need fruits and veggies. But I find you should only give veggies when your not feeding them off and only give a little fruit to the ones you will be because you get fruit flies very easily. Your dubias will have to be adults to breed, so they will look like actual roaches instead of trilobites.

... and yes, i also think they are kinda cute :p especially the freshly molted ones where you can see their eyes and face paint.
