:( So My Chameleon's name is Mufasa because,of his species begin from Kenya and Tanzania Africa, I've had him for about 3weeks now. Im a first time Cham mommy and hes a 6mth-1yr Jackson he is absoutly beautiful, But lately he hasn't been eating lately.. I've tried everything 4 crickets a day, a couple waxworms. and a mealworm as a treat. He will only really eat if he sees something crawling in my kitchen like a fly or a moth or crickets crawling in the lil keeper I have for them. I'm really worried about him. He doesn't look like he is stressing or anything. His humidity is 80% all the time and the temp is always around 80 during the day and drops down the 76 at night. I want a happy chameleon not a grumpy gills. I spray his tank enclosure often so i'm sure he is hydrated, but you can see his ribs and i've been able to see them since I got him at Petsmart. Any advice please...

Sincerly A very sad and worried chameleon mommy.

How to ask for help
Here is some recommended information to include when asking for help in the health clinic forum. By providing this information, you will receive more accurate and beneficial responses. It might not be necessary to answer all these questions, but the more you provide the better. Please remember that even the most knowledgeable person can only guess at what your problem may be. Only an experienced reptile veterinarian who can directly examine your animal can give a true diagnosis of your chameleon's health.

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?

Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?

Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
Location - Where are you geographically located?

Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.

Pictures are helpful

Hello, more info would definitely be useful - How much exactly is he eating? and how much when you first got him? What is his basking temp? Do you have a uvb bulb, what type is it?
Sometimes giving too many waxworms and mealworms will make them strike. If that's all it is then he'll take a while but start eating again before he starves :)

How long has this been going on?

Right now his tank is way too small its 10gallon glass tank that I had for my anoles its a temp home till I had enough money to buy him a screen enclosure, I have one on order now that is 16x16x18 the guy at the reptile shop said that would be big enough for the rest of his life. I also think that my temp gauges are broken because, they have the same temp through out the cage which is 80 on one side and almost 80 on the side with all the shade and where most of his climbing branches are. I threw a cricket in there a couple mins ago and he snapped it right up. he's eating medium to large, and they have there wing chirpper thingys now and they are driving my parents crazy. My UVB bulb is the repti 5.0 UVB I don't know what the basking bulb is though...

16x16x18 is going to be big enough for the rest of his life? Hmmmmmmm, I'd go with larger. I am getting ready to build something no smaller than 24x24x48. That seems to be the standard recommended temporary size. 16x16x18 sounds a bit cramped for an adult.

Thats what the guy at the store was saying and its all I can really afford right now :/. I dont want my lil man suffering anymore.
