plant lighting

i was just wondering if the uva/uvb lights were benificial to plant growth or if i need another individual bulb for plants

The UV lights work however they are not as effective as a grow light.

If your not going to use a grow light make sure you have got extra UV tube lights or normal tubes for efficient photosynthesis for your plants. However I would recommend a shade area in your enclosure for your chameleon, to allow them to escape from the light if they want shade.

i think i will try out that 6500k bulb, there r plenty of shade spots for him, how much do those go for and what size dome do i need?

Best bet is to buy a linear UVB (don't buy the coil UVB lamps, they are bad and unhealthy) and to buy a linear 6500K lamp. buy the same size lamps... say 24" T8 lamps. Then buy a dual 24" T8 fixture and put both lamps into the one fixture. Place on top of the cage and then place your basking lamp at a slight angle pointing it under the UVB/6500K fixture so that all three lights point at on spot there the animal will bask and receive heat and UVB and the plants will get the light form the 6500K.
