Plant grow light

Well I picked up 2 of these http://www.walmart.com/ip/Lights-of-America-24-Fluorescent-Grow-Light-Fixture/16879945 today and well its a under cabinet time light. Well right now its laying on its side 'til I can make a stand for it. But I was wondering... I know that basking light and uvb light cant be placced in the cage and I'm pretty sure its because theres no cover. Well these lights have a cover and dont seem to get hot at all. Would it be ok to hang this inside on the wooden frame?

I'm probably not going to do it but was just curious.

If u can be sure the surface of the cover doesn't get hotter than 100 I don't see an issue

No offense but thats not a very good grow light @ 4200k. A good grow light is 5500-6500k and 1200 lumens or more.

yea @4200 thatts hardly more then a standard tube light

Will it be ok til I can get something better? I cant return them but if I find a replace 6500k bulb do you think it can go into that fixture?

Yeah that looks like a t8 fixture and thats what you want a t8 6500k linear bulb.

Please don't put any electrical fixture inside your animals cage. Chams are pretty nosey and llike to investigate their home. No matter how hard you try to protect it they will poke around and may hurt themselves. Keep all your lights outside the cage. Any light fixtures that hold lights meant for the cham can't have a cover on it because the plastic will prevent the uv's from going into the cage and helping your cham. Remove all plastic covers.

Agreed, But is this urgent?? Seems that the light is not emitting heat, and that is OK with you, so really the ONLY problem you have is "should I put this in the cage with my lizard?", Well no, (READ ABOVE) but....the real question is..... Did you have to list this urgent??

Right now its outside the cage and thats where its staying
