Piper November 2023

What happened to his back leg?

When we took him in from the yard, part of his tail was missing and his back leg. The clutch hatched in our yard and we had been watching the babies. He was not getting around fast like his siblings and we were afraid the neighbors cat was going to get him so we brought him in. Shortly after bringing him in we took him for a new pet check up and Dr. Mader said the leg has such a nice smooth stubb that he believed he might have been born that way. The tail looked to be torn off. The tail grew back some but has no bone, only cartilage.

I keep an empty little box with a puppy pad or paper towels in it and that’s where Piper poops. I have a friend that trained her’s to use the toilet but I was afraid to try that with Piper since he’s missing a back leg.
That’s wild you can potty train them!
