We have a 6 month old, a 3 year old and a 3 day old (well, she's suppose to be 6-8 weeks but what do I know?) LOL

Thanks for looking!

That baby is indeed min of 6-8 weeks by looking at the plastic vines
Its almost to big for fruitflys but will still eat them. I posted some baby pics of 2-3 week panthers in the photo section last night.

My husband just measured her in her cage. She's right at 1.5 inches as best he could tell without scaring her.

Your babies are cute, btw. How does one sex them so early? Is it easy?

The males have loose skin under the base of there tail, females do not. I find it much easyer to sex them in groups. so i can compair them to each other. oh and that a nice bunch of chams you got there.:D

Since you have some tiny ones of your own, I swear mine looks to be around the same age as yours but that's just going from the pics you posted yesterday, can you tell me if she 'looks' ok health wise? Hydration wise?

Also, what temps do you keep the cage? I was told they don't need a basking lamp at that age but when do you ad one?

Thanks for the compliment on my chams :) Like I told someone else, we had thought about breeding sometime late next year but after seeing this one I can't imagine it! I'm too much of a worrier as this little one has me stressed to the max!

He is Ambanja. He's a long term W/C. I estimate hes about 20 inches in length. He's probably 3+ yrs old. He's super friendly and loves to free range. I really adore him. He's very tolerant of cage modifications (had to reinforce the sides so he could climb them. The mesh was too small for his nails and he couldn't ambulate easy).

Loves to eat and drink by hand, too. Wasn't expecting that from a w/c but when we got him he had been in a box for 2 days in the heat as the result of crappy USPS, so I spoiled him rotten and catered to his every need. Now he just expects it. And of course, I deliver :D

I think I like Ambanja the best of all the panthers right now. Their coloring is amazing. Fez is more colorful in general but Miles just seems to glow, esp when he's outside.

He looks pretty cool.. you should do a photo shoot just of him.. I am waiting on some ambanja eggs to hatch.. I love their coloring!

Also, I think somehow ambanja runs bigger than other locals in terms of size. Not always but they do seem to be a bit larger than their counterparts from what I've seen so far. I like the bigger chams.

Thanks for the compliment! These pics were all taken with my blackberry. I really should try to get some better pics. I will take some tomorrow of their husbandry. My husband has worked all weekend on it.

Ambanjas I do believe are the biggest locale. It's weird though, cause my female banja is tiny! I have a 4-5 month Masoala and its just as big as she is..and she is like 12 months old.

Do you have pics of your fam? Would love to see them! And if Ambanja is the largest local then surely Oorana Mena has to be the meanest. LMAO! Every pic I see of an OM is of them all fired up with their mouth agape :D

Ok, I've got to be honest..I'm not a veiled person persay but yours are probably the coolest I've EVER seen. No joke. Do they have good dispositions or are they barely tolerant of humans? LOL. That casque is really impressive! LOL

Your female ambanja is def all ambanja! She looks large for female and superchill, like my big boy :)

Killer chams you have there!

Thank you :)

My male veiled is mean.. very mean. He's bit me already and will try to bite me all the time. So does my ambanja girl.
My female veiled is a sweetheart. She is my gf's pride and joy.

My pride and joy now is that Masoala. I got him on saturday at Daytona. He is only 4-5 months old and is showing so much color. His spine is blue, that lateral line is white..completely white. The red/orange body is sensational and the purplish-green bars are beautiful. He is so cool, and rare:D

btw, did you like the vid? its on the video contest :)

Do you have a pic of what an adult Masoala looks like? He seems to resemble sambava a little, no? Your girl veiled is unusual looking to me, she's speckled and oh so colorful!

Masoalas are similar to Maroantsetra, but there are some masoalas that are just above and beyond any coloration you'll expect.
This is what I believe to be the coolest panther I've seen:

this is a masoala also (i think):

That first pic is AMAZING! I would love to own one like that! Ive seen that pic before on here from last year, I think? It was a while back. Totally beautiful animal. Do they all turn out that incredible? Was he expensive? Both pics are outstanding.

He was of an average price for a panther, but then again.. I got him at a show.. idk how much they are normally (if you find one).

I had inquired about this locale a few months ago but nothing came up. I was extremely lucky that Mike at FLChams had one. It was funny cause I got to his booth and told him that if he had any masoalas..he laughed and pointed to the cage..there he was:eek:..I just had to have him.

Idk if they all turn out that nice (probably not) but through selective breeding, some sure will look awesome like that.

and yes, that pic was one the thread about rare locales
