I was just wondering if yemen chameleons are more aggressive and territorial than other chameleons such as the panther chameleon. i am going to be getting a panther(hopefully) or veiled. I have had a veiled and he always hissed and as mean andd i never was around him or trying to handle him. I was wondering if panther chameleons are any different. Please let me know.

Thank you

Depends on the chameleon, some are aggresive/defensive some are passive. No reptile likes being held, most just tolerate it. Just my opinon.

I agree completely... chameleons vary.. Happy / mad Its a gamble in my opinion wether its nice, or a hisser :p

each cham has its own personality... I have two Veileds.. one is chill the other is a total aggressive freak.... I only have one panther and he is VERY chill.

Most people will tell you a Panther is less aggressive. I think it depends on the animal and its care. Provide good care and interact/handle the cham as little as possible and it won't matter if he/she is aggressive.

Remember, they aren't toys and are not meant to be handled. ;)

Another example: In all the literature I got about them, Ch.t.johnstoni is described as a very aggressive species.
But mine was totally friendly, he never wants to bit me or something else

In general...To my experience veileds tend to be more agressive...Its very true that they all have their own personality...But jus speaking from experience with my chams and my friends chams the veileds out the bunch have some extra feist to them

different cham, different age, will yield different attitude.
there is no such thing as an absolute in this matter.

of all the chams i have, the nastiest one that have tried bitten me at least 20 times in his whole life is a panther chameleon.
while my veiled has mellowed down tremendously.

both chams have never been handled for anything else except 4 vet visit, sunning, and cage total cleaning.

ok and are they both hardy or is one a little more dependant on stuff. i alred y have everything needed for both but i was just trying to check which would be better

In most cases panthers are generally less aggressive but it depends on the handling etc.

Veileds are VERY tough. They can take HUGE temperature swings and humidity swings. This isn't to say you should swing the temp and humidity around on them.... but.... since they are tough, they could handle it and survive. Panthers are a bit less capable of taking the 'abuse' mother nature can dish out. This isn't to say they are fragile, just not as tolerant as a veiled.

As a beginner, both are suitable if you get all the fixings for the setup ahead of time. and have some sort of idea of what your doing. do not buy a super small baby or a ill rescue first time out. Buy something arund the age of 3-4 months. The survival rate is higher:).

Where in OC are you? If you need any help finding the things you need to buy send me a PM!;)
